Description
This is a semester-long project that was the culmination of the course, INST-760 Data Visualization. My team and I used this opportunity to work with datasets of electric vehicles and EV charging networks in the United States and visualized the growth of EV networks since their inception.
We also visualized a cross-country road trip between two EVs, the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, and the Ford Mustang Mach-E . We went into this project assuming Tesla's unique value proposition, which is the Tesla Supercharger Network. Given that the Supercharger Network is the most widespread EV Network in the country (as of 2023) and taking into account that Tesla had a headstart in setting up this huge network, we assumed that the Model 3 Long Range would blow the competition out of the park in the cross-country road trip.
But as visualized in the video shown below, that is simply not the case.

The Challenge
The final visualization is an animated video of a cross-country road trip between the Tesla Model 3 (Long Range) & Ford Mustang Mach-E (California Route-1). This journey pushed both cars to their range limits & evaluated if range anxiety, due to charging infrastructure, is still something to be concerned about. It concluded with highly similar results given the 2,800+ miles covered & dynamically chosen different routes. As of December 2022, The Mach-E & the Model 3 are highly comparable in regard to their respective networks as well as in price & range figures.
